Tanks beat drums

The use of tank containers provides a safe and straightforward method of controlling costs, while providing responsible care to the public, employees and the environment. The tank container is a recyclable resource, used over and over again and made economical by its design and ease of maintenance.

Tank containers carry a greater quantity of liquid for equivalent shipping space and cost compared to an ISO container filled with drums.

At the same time a tank container, with a capacity of 26000 litres or more, will transport the equivalent of 128 205-litre (55 US gallon) drums in the same ISO shipping space. This means that to carry 128 drums would require 1.6 dry box container loads, at effectively twice the shipping cost!

Furthermore, with standard drums costing around $20 each, that means $2,560 for their purchase, together with the costs of equipment and labour to handle, store, fill and individually mark the drums. With that sort of expenditure, tanks beat drums through simple arithmetic, as well as environmental efficiency.

drum, within its own protective frame and with provision for lifting and stacking.

Tank containers are able to carry a far greater quantity of liquid for the equivalent shipping space and cost compared to an ISO container filled with drums.

The ease and speed of loading and discharge of tank containers is a benefit to shippers and their customers.

Receiving just two tank container loads each day eliminates the alternative of handling and storage of up to 260 drums. Difficult when the drums are new, but costly and inefficient when the drums are empty and contaminated.

Tank containers have the added benefit of stainless steel cleanliness and strength, pressurisation and integral heating systems.

GE SeaCo tank containers are available from stock and supplied with independent authority test certification and cleanliness certificates.
