GE SeaCo has partnership arrangements with its part owner, Sea Containers Limited, for the design and manufacture of tanks, the operation of maintenance depots and access to SCL's extensive resources to give the right support to its customers. These resources include Sea Containers Group companies that operate railways and design, charter and operate ships.

To ensure that you select the right tank for your needs, GE SeaCo provides technical support at every stage. It is able to guide you through the international regulations, and provide specifications, training programmes and manuals to ensure the safe and efficient use of tanks.

Where special designs and adaptations are necessary, GE SeaCo produces the designs in consultation with the customer and undertakes the necessary work. Logistic needs are provided for through its extensive range of partners and contacts specialising in the transportation of tanks.

It is able to work on projects from the start-up of a new transportation service to fleet management of existing fleets.

The following is typical of projects undertaken, by GE SeaCo:

  • Customers provide the material safety data sheet on the cargo to be transported and its region of use. GE SeaCo recommends, in consultation with the customer, the right tank type and capacity heating requirements. Notifies the customer of the relevant regulations and then ensures the most economical means of use - whether to rent, lease or purchase.

  • Existing tank fleet purchased by GE SeaCo from a major company wishing to outsource its container equipment. GE SeaCo leased-back the tanks to ensure continued use and at the same time implemented a maintenance programme, replaced obsolete tanks with the most appropriate type to meet the needs of the customer's changing business and carried out tests to ensure ongoing safety.

  • Tank fleet management undertaken, reviewing the customers' current tank fleet and cargo flows, and ensuring the most economical use of tanks.

  • Military applications where resource centres are set up on 'green field' sites. In conjunction with other divisions of GE SeaCo, supplying tanks for liquids, refrigerated containers for chilled storage, dry freight containers for storage and accommodation modules.

  • Liquid storage installations where tanks are stacked together and connected with pipework to provide single load and discharge capacity and an immediate capacity of 200,000 litres and more.
